For evaluees
What to expect at your assessment
Independent medical assessments can feel unfamiliar. We aim to make the process clear, professional, and respectful from scheduling through examination.
Before your appointment
- You will receive confirmation of your appointment date, time, and location (or virtual meeting details).
- Review any instructions from our scheduling team regarding records, identification, or items to bring.
- Prepare a list of current medications, treating providers, and relevant medical history.
- Arrange transportation and allow adequate time to arrive before your scheduled appointment.
During the assessment
- The assessor will explain the purpose of the examination and answer procedural questions.
- You will be treated with respect and dignity throughout the assessment.
- The examination may include a clinical interview, physical examination, or functional testing depending on the referral.
- You may take breaks as needed unless specific test protocols require otherwise.
After the assessment
- The assessor prepares an independent report for the referring party. Reports are not typically shared directly with evaluees at the time of examination.
- Questions about report release should be directed to the party that referred you for assessment.
- If you require accommodation for a future appointment, contact our scheduling team as early as possible.
In-person and virtual assessments
Some assessments are conducted in person at a clinic location or other agreed venue. Others may be completed virtually when appropriate for the assessment type and referral requirements. Your appointment confirmation will specify the format.
Questions or accommodations
If you have accessibility needs, language preferences, or questions about your upcoming assessment, please contact our scheduling team as soon as possible so we can assist you.
